L.A. Galaxy midfielder Nigel de Jong picks up a $4.3-million home in Encino
Professional footballer Nigel de Jong has a new place to kick it in the San Fernando Valley. The Dutch midfielder, who joined the L.A. Galaxy earlier this year, has bought a newly built home in Encino for $4.3 million.
The Cape Cod-inspired house sits behind fences and gates on a property where late model and actress Doe Avedon’s home once stood.
Some 7,000 square feet of interior space includes formal living and dining rooms, a home theater, a library, a media room, a wine cellar, five bedrooms and 6.5 bathrooms. Vaulted ceilings, hardwood and Travertine floors, wainscoting and fireplaces highlight the interior details. A chef’s kitchen features stone countertops and a breakfast bar, and a family room has doors that open to the grounds. A swimming pool and spa, patios mature trees and lawns fill the roughly half-acre setting. There’s also a detached guest house.
De Jong, 31, is a two-time World Cup starter for the Netherlands national team. He has played for such clubs as Hamburger SV, Manchester City FC and AC Milan. He signed with the Galaxy in January for $500,000. His deal with the Major League Soccer club includes options for the next two seasons.
